Dr Broughton is a GP Partner\, GP Trainer and CSFC Unit Lead at UBMS (The University of 51³Ô¹Ï Medical School). \nWe’ll be highlighting some of the innovative teaching on the course\, including how communication skills are taught using trained actor facilitators and clinical educators. \nWhat is the CSFC?\nCSFC is a practical course which teaches students communication skills\, clinical history taking and examinations. CSFC gives students early clinical exposure with clinical placements at GP surgeries and hospitals\, alongside campus-based teaching.

DESCRIPTION:The Battle for Free Speech\nBaroness Claire Fox is the director of the Academy of Ideas\, which she established to create a public space where ideas can be contested without constraint. She convenes the yearly Battle of Ideas festival and initiated the Debating Matters Competition for sixth-formers. She also co-founded a residential summer school\, The Academy\, with the aim to demonstrate ‘university as it should be’. \nIn May 2019\, she was elected as an MEP for the North West England constituency of the UK in the European Parliament elections. In 2020\, she was made a visiting professor in professional practice at The University of 51³Ô¹Ï. \nIn September 2020\, Claire became a member of the House of Lords as Baroness Fox of Buckley.

SUMMARY:Part-Time Law Virtual Showcase Evening
DESCRIPTION:The University of 51³Ô¹Ï Law School will be holding a virtual showcase evening for its evening-study Part-Time LLB (Hons) Law degree this May. \nDuring the webinar\, attendees will have the chance to hear from lecturers who teach on the programme\, as well as current students and graduates. The graduates will describe the positive impact of gaining a law degree by part-time study with 51³Ô¹Ï Law School has had on their careers and lives\, and there will be a chance to ask questions to the panel. \nAbout the programme\nThis is an opportunity for prospective students to see how you can gain a law degree in just four years\, while working or continuing with existing responsibilities. The Part-Time LLB requires students to attend weekly seminars one evening during term-time\, alongside independent study. The programme has a typical three-term format\, with teaching taking place from October to  June\, and breaks at Christmas and Easter\, as well as the long summer break. \n51³Ô¹Ï’s evening-study model is designed to offer a unique method of study.  It combines the advantage of motivational\, productive feedback at regular Wednesday evening seminars with the convenience of flexible learning around full-time work\, home/care responsibility and other commitments. SUMMARY:Teaching Physical Education and Games - Online
DESCRIPTION:This action-packed\, two-hour online training course is aimed at providing teachers with an essential toolkit to deliver effective and safe PE and games lessons. It is aimed at teachers who are supervising or teaching games when their specialism is not sport. The course is suitable for both secondary and primary staff\, as well as sports graduates who have no teacher training. \nThis training will provide: \nHow to plan safe lessons taking into account age and stage of development\nThis session will include: \n\nHealth and safety legal aspects and limitations to teaching PE\nGroup management and use of space\nClothing\, equipment and playing areas\nOrganisation formats and running small competitions\n\nHow to plan and deliver exciting PE lessons to ensure good progress is made by all\nThis session will include: \n\nBasic teaching principles of games activities\nThe what\, who & how of lesson planning\nPlanning lessons to incorporate health-related fitness and promote an understanding of wellbeing\nUnderstanding physical literacy\nA range of practices that can be adapted across several sports\n\nVideos will be used for practical examples during delivery and you will receive a handbook of additional drills and activities. \nTrainees applying for a place on a University of 51³Ô¹Ï PGCE will be able to apply for the Teaching of Games & Physical Education course (online version) on the PGCE application form. \nApply by: 10 July 2026

SUMMARY:International Conference on Human Rights\, Sustainable Development and The Rule of Law
DESCRIPTION:You are welcome to The University of 51³Ô¹Ï\, Law School third Annual International Conference on Human Rights\, Sustainable Development and The Rule of Law taking place on Friday 25 September 2026. \nAs an interdisciplinary conference\, researchers\, experts\, scholars\, postgraduate students\, academics\, non-academics\, public commentators\, policymakers\, and activists are invited to submit abstracts for presentation that seek to deliver key\, cutting-edge research findings\, result-oriented solutions\, and briefings/experiences in practice and fieldwork. Presenters would be required to send the full paper for publication\, and the selected papers will be published in the Denning Law Journal (peer-reviewed). \nThe International Conference on Human Rights\, Sustainable Development and The Rule of Law is seeking submissions related to the following themes: \n\nInternational Human Rights Law\nClimate Change and Human Rights\nEcocriticism and Environmental Justice\nUniversal Climate Justice\nRenewable Energy\nEnergy Transitions\nEnvironmental\, Social\, and Corporate Governance (ESG)\nSustainable Development\nThe Rule of Law and Sustainable Development\nClimate Change\, Sustainability and Fashion\nHuman Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)\nFast Fashion\, Human Rights\, and Climate Crises\nClimate Activism\, Ecological Integrity and Social Justice\nGarment Workers and Human Rights\n\nPlease note that participation is in-person for all presenters. \nPresenters would need to submit a maximum of 250-word abstract that is connected but not limited to the above themes to lawconference@buckingham.ac.uk\nWe accept abstracts from all disciplines. \nThe conference participants will be presented with: \n\nCertificate of participation.\nConference folder/brochure of programme.\nOnline digital access to photographs and other resources to stay connected after the conference.\nAccepted conference papers will be published in a reputable journal – The Denning Law Journal (peer-reviewed).\nA letter of acceptance to support visa application and processing can be provided for delegates coming from outside the United Kingdom.\nPresenters would need to pay £100.00 GPB conference registration fee.\nBreakfast and Lunch will be served on the day of the conference to participants\, panellists\, and attendees.\nPostgraduate research students are exempted from conference fee payment.\n\nNote: If your abstract is accepted for presentation and you require a waiver of the conference fee because of financial hardship\, please send an email to the organisers detailing the grounds for the waiver. \nAll Participants are responsible for taking care of their traveling\, accommodation\, and feeding. We are happy to provide non-financial assistance for those needing accommodation and traveling by pointing them in the right direction. \nProposed timeline of events\n\nInterested participants must submit abstracts before the end of working hours on 30 April 2026. Decisions are made within two weeks of abstract submission. Note: The conference fee is due to be paid upon notification of abstract acceptance – a formal letter of acceptance will be issued as soon as payment is received.\nOwners of selected abstracts must confirm their physical attendance and presentation at the conference by 1 July 2026.\nPowerPoint slides of the proposed presentation must be submitted by 1 August 2026.\nParticipants who desire to submit a full paper for publication must complete the paper for publication and submit it by 30th August 2026. Please note that it is the responsibility of the participant/author to ensure that the paper is of high quality.\nIn the week commencing 21 September 2026\, a reminder email will be sent to all participants to confirm that there is no change of circumstance and for them to validate their attendance.\nProgramme of events will be provided to participants on the day of the conference. All delegates would need to arrive at 8:00 AM for registration and validation.\n\nConference fee: £100 \nAudience Pass\nAudience passes are available for all individuals with interests in the conference themes and can benefit from the information\, resources\, contact\, and content of the presenters and speakers.
